ORGANISE AN EVENT

Organising an event is a great way to raise funds for Worcester Community Trust, whilst having fun! Get your friends, family, colleagues, school or workplace involved and feel like a super charity hero for the day!

Every year we are amazed by the variety of fundraising events that take place across the city. Here are just a few of our suggestions to get you thinking.

From bake sales to coffee mornings, to golf days and gigs, there are so many different types of fundraising events to choose from! Check out our list of ideas below.

Send Invitations

Make a guest list! This can be specific people or groups. Don’t forget to add any guest speakers or comperes that you would like to attend, and even the press.

Collect Donations

Decide if you will be collecting donations online or by cash. Do you want to charge people to attend your event? Are there any other opportunities to fundraise such as a raffle?

Choose a Venue

Think about the size of venue and location that will suit your event best. Check whether it is available and make a booking if you need to.

Get Planning

Make a basic plan of how the event will run. Get people onboard who can help – assign them with jobs for prior to the event, and a role for on the day.

Think About Safety

Depending on the size and type of event you are running you may need to consider safety. Do you need first aid support on the day? Do you need to write a risk assessment? Your venue should be able to support with this.

Set a Date

Leave yourself enough time to plan and get everything sorted. Remember to do some research into what else might be happening on the same day and decide whether it would be best to run your event during or outside of the school holidays.

Promote Your Event

Now you have the details sorted, it’s time to encourage people to come! Think about creating posters and banners to put up and make sure you share on social media. Make use of community noticeboards and even WhatsApp groups.

Enjoy!
