At Worcester Community Trust, we are always so delighted to highlight the incredible generosity and support of local organisations who go the extra mile for members of our community. Most recently The Body Shop and University of Worcester reached out to our JOY project, which supports vulnerable women across the community.
In February this year, The Body Shop Worcester donated 100 personal care products to women accessing JOY services. This thoughtful contribution enabled a moment of relaxation and self-care to many women facing complex life challenges.
“Our business actively looks at ways to support and empower vulnerable women and we hope this donation can be enjoyed by the ladies attending your support services,” said Sarah Gore, Customer Consultant at The Body Shop.
Amanda Willis, Deputy Manager of The Body Shop Worcester, personally handed over the donation and met with JOY Project JoRae to discuss the work being done.
In addition to this, students and staff at the University of Worcester rallied behind JOY with a bake sale fundraiser. Organised by the School of Psychology, the initiative was led by Dr Isabel Gilbert, Lecturer in Criminology.

“We chose JOY because we have long admired the work of Worcester Community Trust as a whole and wanted to support a small organisation making a real difference in the community.
“Dr Beverley Gilbert has been running a social enterprise for women experiencing complex disadvantage, and is therefore aware of the excellent work you do. She made the suggestion that we fundraise for JOY.
“We’re so glad you are pleased with the donation and we certainly had fun with the bake sale,” said Dr Gilbert.
Jo Rae, JOY Project Lead at Worcester Community Trust, expressed her gratitude:
“We’re incredibly thankful for the continued support from organisations like The Body Shop and the University of Worcester. These donations don’t just provide practical help – they send a powerful message of solidarity and re-empowerment to the women we support.”
