Silver Sunday is an annual day to highlight Loneliness in older people across the UK and this year it was held on Sunday 7th October 2018.
Worcester Community Trust supported this day by holding a walking football tournament for over 50’s, which saw eight teams of ten from across the Midlands compete for the #SilverSundayUK Cup.
There were two groups of four teams, with three group games, a 5th/6th and 7th/8th Play Off, Semi Finals, a 3rd/4th Play off then the Final. It was a competitive day, played in the best spirit which saw the Hartshill Strollers ‘A’ defeat The Soul Boys 2-1 on penalties after the final ended in a draw.
The Teams that competed were, Worcester City FC; The Winning Post, Worcester; Hartshill Strollers ‘A’, Hindlip FC; Suttons Finest; The Soul Boys; Hartshill Strollers ‘B’ and Highworth Town Walking Football. Player of the Tournament was awarded to Anthony Birbeck from The Winning Post, Worcester.
