Worcester Model Railway Club moved into the Horizon Hub in Midland Road, Worcester during the Summer and they are now preparing for the big switch on!
Back in April 2018 we saw an article in the Worcester News about the Club whose “home” was about to close down, leaving them without a premises to run from. We got in touch with what we thought might be suitable rooms at our centres and one in particular was of great interest.
The room in question was the in the roof space at The Horizon Hub which at the time was being used for storage, which the group thought would be perfect from their first visit. Over the Summer the group set about building storage frames for other user groups at the Centre to put them in a position to move in.
Club Secretary David Lawrence said, “We moved in during June and started to build the frames for the other groups as there was quite a lot of equipment in the space we were moving into. It took us until August before we could start moving our layout in and start the re-build.”
From September to December the group has painstakingly and meticulously built up the layout with stations, goods yard, bridges, a canal and much more.
David added, ” We are now in the process of wiring in the layout which we hope to finish in January, when we will officially open the layout. We are extremely grateful to Worcester Community Trust for re-homing us and making us feel so welcome”
The Group is looking for new members whether or not they have any experience in Model Railways and they currently meet on a Tuesday evening. If you are interested please visit their page on our website.
