This blog is slightly different from the usual format as we are celebrating the service of one of the most well known members of the Ronkswood Community in Worcester.

Anyone living in or working near to the Ronkswood / Newtown area of Worcester is unlikely to have not met Steve Goode at sometime in their life as Steve was until Monday 20th March 2017 the Sub Post Master at Newtown Post Office. He has decided to call it a day at The Post Office which has been at the heart of the Ronkswood Estate for the past 35 years and throughout that period in the very capable hands of the Goode Family.

The original Post Office used to be part of a larger Grocers Shop run by Mrs Joyce Goode but with the introduction of Supermarkets the Goode’s decided to drop the Grocers part of the Business in the early 1990’s and after a smart revamp it’s been the same ever since. Joyce who is Steve’s Mother helped out until she retired in the early 2000’s

Steve has been the very much at the centre of the Community and there were very few people in the area who he didn’t know. He has been involved in many Community Initiatives and he always went the extra mile to help people.

As an indication of how popular a Post Master Steve is, the below Facebook Post was seen by over 20,000 people in less than 3 days with almost 300 likes and 100 shares becoming our most popular post ever!

So along with everyone else, we wish Steve all the very best for the future!

After 35 years today is the final day for Steve Goode at Newtown Post Office at the centre of the Ronkswood…
