COMMUNITY CONNECTORS

This project works closely with members of the public and partners to deliver Coffee Connect drop in sessions to support the socially isolated and those with low level stress and anxiety. We also offer structured Lifestyle groups that meet the needs of the individuals and communities attending. These sessions are delivered in our hubs in Ronkswood, Horizon,Dines Green, Warndon and Tolladine,

We aim to

  • Reduce health inequalities
  • Tackle social isolation
  • Provide learning, training and employment opportunities
  • Support vulnerable members of the community
  • Provide a service tailored to the individual’s needs
  • Make positive lifestyle changes
  • Increase social networks within the community
  • Promote positive health and well-being
  • Offer support in a non-judgemental manner

We achieve this by:

  • Offering one to one support face to face or by telephone
  • Offering various group-work programmes aimed to reduce social isolation, increase social networks within the community and to re-build confidence and self-esteem
  • Signposting and refer individuals to the appropriate services
  • Working in partnership with other agencies and professionals to meet the community’s needs
  • Providing additional support for vulnerable individuals
  • Helping and supporting people to access benefits, debt and financial advice
  • Raising self-confidence and promoting positive health and well-being

Several of the Community Connectors group wanted to do something to help other people after receiving help themselves. They started The Bags of Love from Warndon appeal in August 2016 with the intention of making a donation of a bag or box to a lonely person at Christmas. They made the bags as well as knitting Hats and Scarves then took donations up until December from people in the local area. Over 150 bags and shoe boxes were made which were collected by other local charities, Community Groups, the local church as well as being hand delivered.

The Community Connectors hold lots of different events throughout the year. At the end of 2016 the Connectors Group held a Christmas Party where two members of local group Dublin Jacks, performed.
